Stimpy and Gil have been friends since Gil was a kitten. When Gil was dependent of being nurtured, Stimpy (who was only eight years old at the time) took the most care of him. In "How They All Met," it is shown that when Gil is sleeping, Stimpy placidly holds him in his arms and gently rocks him back and forth, and when Gil cries, Stimpy lets him suck on his finger to help calm him down. Stimpy stopped treating Gil like a baby when Gil achieved the age of four years. Yet for some strange reason, Gil started getting killed as soon as he turned ten years old. Whenever Gil gets killed, Stimpy is usually the first to react by yelling, "Holy shit! They/He/She/You/I killed Gil!" Cigarettes is next to react by shouting, "You son of a bitch/sons of bitches!"
