Friendship of Cigarettes and Stimpy

Stimpy and Cigarettes have been friends since Kindergarten. In February 1995, Cigarettes was placed in Ren and Stimpy's school (University Place Primary) as an exchange student from another state. Cigarettes was the youngest in the class, being only four years old, but was immediately recognized by his new classmates for his laid-back and cool personality. Many of them assumed that he and Stimpy were related to each other because their noses were similar. Cigarettes liked Stimpy because of his zany personality, and the two befriended. Not long afterward, Cigarettes also befriended Ren. In early May 1997, as explained in "How They All Met," Ren, Stimpy, and Cigarettes were just hanging out after school when Gil's mother came to them holding her newborn son and said, "I need someone to watch Gil while I'm overseas in Europe. Would any of you boys care to watch him for me?" Cigarettes was the first to accept the offer. Meanwhile, Gil was crying out of control because his mother was leaving him. He sobbed, "Mama! Mama!" as his mother drove away. Cigarettes held Gil in his arms, trying to coax him to relax. It wasn't working. Stimpy offered to help, so he placidly took Gil and gently held him against his chest until Gil stopped crying and started to softly purr. Gil then sneezed. The three of them thought it was cute. Cigarettes remarked, "You really know how to take care of infants, Stimps." They nurtured Gil until he was seven years old and his mother returned from Europe. Gil went with her back to his hometown of Pasadena, TX. In August 2007, Gil returned to University Place alone. He ran away from home and flew there all alone for an unknown reason. He recognized Ren, Stimpy, and Cigarettes and asked them if he could live with them. The three of them were in their late teens, so they were responsible enough.

In the show, Stimpy and Cigarettes usually react to Gil's deaths. Stimpy yells, "Holy shit! They/He/She/You/I killed Gil!" Cigarettes responds, "You son of a bitch/sons of bitches!"
