Ren and Gil hardly seem to get along with each other well. Ren always teases Gil about everything, and Gil sometimes shouts at him in protest, but other times he shows his fear of Ren. In the episodes, "The Malevolent Ren" and "The Fucking," Gil shows obvious fear and shyness of Ren, especially when in both episodes Ren goes on a rampage. Ren always badmouths Gil and tells him that he loathes him and that he wishes that Gil would just die and never come back, but deep down, Ren cares for Gil. In the episode, "How They All Met," Ren, as well as Cigarettes and Stimpy, "awws" the kitten (Gil) whenever it sneezes and purrs. In the episode, "Relations," Ren admits to Gil that "[he] only scare[s] [him] just for fun, and [he] really care[s] about [him]." After he says this, Gil is so touched by his words that he hugs him and starts crying.
